Dark Past Short- Zowie's Past Zowie swung from the cat’s jaws as he carried her through the long grass. She’d already tried getting away, but it wasn’t easy for a four month old kitten to get free from a much older cats jaws. Now she hung limply in his grip, watching the grass pass by endlessly. Suddenly, he broke into a run, Zowie squeaked as the grass blurred past. Then the cat leaped into the air and landing heavily, jolting Zowie so that she almost fell. Then the cat tossed his head and dropped her onto the grass. Immediately, Zowie sprang to her paws and ran headfirst into a bush. She yelped as twigs caught in her long fur. Then she felt teeth pull her out by her tail. She turned to see the cat who had brought her there. “You can’t keep me here!” She spat bravely. “My mother will be back for me and when she finds out about this, she’s gonna be really mad at you!” “Your mother’s not coming back,
Dark Past Short- Family At Last As Splash talked contentedly with Coal, she felt a sudden jolt in her belly and she winced involuntarily. Coal pricked his ears. “What’s wrong?” He asked in alarm. “Is it the kits?” Splash shook her head. “No Coal, I think I just-" Another jolt, harder than the other, made her cry out and Coal’s eyes flew wide open. “Okay, maybe it is.” Splash meowed in alarm. Coal scrambled to his paws. “Uh…I’ll get Camille!” He turned and raced off, calling for his sister at the top of his lungs. A moment later, he was back with Camille racing after him. The tabby cat raced over to Splash and crouched beside her, lying a paw on her belly. Her alarm changed to relief in a heartbeat. “Coal, there’s nothing wrong.” She chuckled. “The kits are coming, that’s all.” “WHAT?” Splash and Coal shouted at the same time.
